Hey Folks,

I experienced an absolutely awesome Alaska River float trip of some 90 miles on the Kanektok River with GM, Flys4b8t, Jet and Pit Boss (alias Greg Miller, Michael Wrisley, Joe Tax and Eric Gilmore) over the last couple weeks.

Kanektok Crew

We had great weather, great fishing and along with the great company made for an awesome trip :-) . It was the trip of a lifetime for me. Thanks so much my fellow Kanektok Klan for this awesome experience.

Following are some photos that capture the majority of the trip as it unfolded.

Best Wishes and tight lines to all!

Flying into Bethel Tuesday morning after flying all night, 8/21

Town of Bethel, Alaska

Lots of folks sitting in Papa Bears Lodge waiting to get on the River

Finally Plane nearly loaded ready to hit the Sky

Greg, enjoying the scenery on the way to the lake

Our put in at the lake, the adventure about to begin.

The Kanektok gang (minus Bluegrass Bill) ready to go

Shoving off the first morning

Michael with a nice dolly as we run into a big bunch of these fish shortly after starting

This is actually our second Grizzly we saw

Eric with a nice grayling

Me with one of the first of many Dolly’s

Setting up camp, a daily ritual.

A look inside our kitchen tent with some very nice amenities

Getting ready to hit it again the next morning

Eric with one of his first really nice rainbows

Our 3rd bear in 3 days!

Saw bear tracks all over the place around our camps

Obviously some happy campers

Greg taking a break from his photography/video efforts with a nice silver

Looking across river, Great camp spot we named Half Dome,
2 nights spent here

Joe with a beautiful rainbow from Half dome camp

A view of our Half Dome camp site

A sunset at Half Dome

Eric in a very familiar pose for a good portion of our trip

Getting close to the end, some very contented folks

Joe with a nice Silver from one of our hot spots

Our last campfire, again some very contented campers

The plane to pick us up at the journey’s end. Where did the time go??

Some of the great scenery fling out of bethel.

Thanks again my Kanektok Klan for a great trip and experience!

[file] Hey Phil,

I am still learning how to use this new board. I still get a real kick out of reliving that Alaska trip. It was no doubt the single best fishing/wilderness experience I have every had (so far anyway;)). We had really good fishing, great weather, great scenery and great company. That experience will be very hard to top in the future. Thanks for bringing it back into focus on the new board here:) .

Best Wishes and tight Lines,

Bill

Hey Folks,

I added a couple more pics/gems taken by my other Kanektok Klan compadres to my original post. Many of them you may have seen from their posts but I think there are probably a few you haven’t. So here you go again, take another look at these for some more gems I added to the original pics.

As you can probably tell, I am still savoring that trip.

Best Wishes and tight lines to all!
