Yes, people will need to register manually the first time. I was thinking of migrating over all of the user information automatically but then thought that it might be better to start with a clean slate. People might want to change their names and profile information anyway.

Instructions would be good! I'll add that to the main page of the old board so people are clear on what they need to do.
