What a great habit....far better than drugs or cigs. Imagine if all the tweekers had that habit and only left gift certificates on the windows, instead of breaking them.

I gotta fiind the deals! 17 Years, 3 Months ago
I hear what you're saying and agree to a certain extent. In some situations for me it's just a better deal economically to buy online. Personally, If I can save $200 or $300 on a new Sage rod online, (and I have 3 times now) or $50-$60 on Tioga reels I'm going to do it. Also, online can be the only place you will find an item you're looking for easily and quickly. How many times have you gone to a local shop and they didn't have a specific line you wanted? Supporting myself and my family comes first so that $200-$300 savings means a lot to me. That applies to large purchases typically. I'll buy tons of tying materials, hooks, leaders, tippet and smaller stuff locally.

In my financial situation, I have to go with the best deal I can find......is that selfish? Maybe, maybe not.

YOUR POST is errornous.
1) nextcast is in Sacramento. See http://www...fishing.com/contact.html
2) Kiene's touts itself as having the biggest spey selection in California, see http://www...ard/viewtopic.php?t=6030

What is the definition of "carmudgeon"? replying to a post and lieing about every (verifiable) fact?

You have ZERO idea what defamation of character is. Telling the truth, which I gave links to is not "defamation of character". If you want to help a carmudgeon spread lies, that is your choice.

Re:Support Your Local Fly Shop! 17 Years, 3 Months ago
Now, let me get this straight:

#1: You have no valid profile with a true name listed and you come to this board and post a bunch of negative stuff about a shop and owner who has a proven record of ethical treatment of clients, who has been a proven supporter of local and statewide projects, who has never, to the best of my knowledge purposely lead anyone astray and is highly regarded throughout the industry? I submit that you are a liar by innuendo.

#2: You are touting products that are produced overseas and imported to the US and claim that because the owners, who just happen to open shop in Sacramento are a local entity?

#3: What part of Keine's statement on the link you provided are false? If they are, prove it, not with ravings but with facts.

#4: Keine's has ordered the lines and they haven't arrived. Seems to me that the company providing the service is at fault, not the shop.

#5: People like you bore me. What compensation do you receive from Nextcast? Or are you involved otherwise with them? You obviously have some connection to be so positive about how great they are.

#6: Were I Simon Hsieh, I would immediately disassociate myself from you to prevent severe damage to my company and reputation. You are doing him no good. I would like some more information about the owner as well. Where did he come from, what is his background in flyfishing and flyfishing related products. How many other businesses in which he was involved had favorable business histories? Is he a citizen of the US? Gee, the company was "founded in 2006 and fully engaged in 2007". Hmmm, that's about a year at most, right? That sure is an impressive track record, wouldn't you say? Especially for one who seems to be unable to provide an advertised product to someone located in the very same town.

#7: I am forwarding this entire thread to Simon Hsieh. Perhaps he will come on board and clarify any issues. I don't think you're qualified to speak for him.

#8: As a matter of fact, I don't think you're qualified to speak for anyone but yourself. Your rantings point out how illogical and biased you are. Go away and leave the rest of us alone, you weren't invited here and you are pissing on the campfire.

Re:Support Your Local Fly Shop! 17 Years, 3 Months ago
A friend forward this thread to me. There are a few points I want to clarify before it gets wrose.

Aaron is right. Nextcast is a Sacramento based flyfishing menufacturer. We just started about a year ago. Lines are designed on our American River and produced in UK (hope that weights a few cents). Now we are in the process of re-designing all lines, but it takes much longer than we anticipate. Due to lack of inventory, so at this moment there is no lines going to shops which include Kiene. Soon we get lines in, we will furnish shops which have requested.

Dan: thanks for your help. I'd very appriciated. Maybe we have run into each other a few times. But still can not picture who you are. Please come by and say hello at Watt Ave on American River.

Thanks
Simon

Simon,

Thanks for helping clarify this situation. It is easy to get carried away with misinformation on a Board like this. Having the real scoop help everyone stay informed!
