Looks like I'm going to be heading up to the Burney area weekend after this and was looking for a campground recommendation I haven't really been up that way and could use a couple pointers. Not sure if I'll be trying the Pit, McCloud or Hat Creek. Hopefully all the fall colors have turned on! They starting here in Reno.

Hot springs at Big Bend on the Pit

It's private property and fire restrictions shouldn't apply

Burney Falls S.P. Great place not far from any of the waters you mentioned. Don't know anything about fire restrictions.

Hereford Ranch where we have the Spring Bash. Nice sites, free showers, close to most of the waters.

For family camping with shot showers and easy access to Hat, Pit, Burney Creek and night fishing at Lake Britton, try Burney Falls SP http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=455

For more solitude, try a pge campground http://www...ational_areas/pit_river/

The Burney Chamber of Commerce has a pretty extensive camping list including the privately owned campgrounds http://www...chamber.com/camping.html

Count on it being COLD! That area starts getting cold early.

Don't forget the PG&E campground at Cassell. It's pretty quiet, even in the summer, and right above Baum Lake. There's rising fish in the canal and forebays, altho I couldn't get too many to slurp down my cripples this summer.

I've even stayed down off of a dirt road down below the campground - good way to kind of get away from the crowd...I'm sure they don't want you to camp there however.

Cassel campground is close to most of our fishing streams, plus Baum Lake. There are no showers there. There is water, toilet, no RV hookups. Nice setting with Oak and Pine trees. Turn right off of 299E onto Cassel Rd. -about 4 miles to campground entrance accross from Post Office.

Hereferd RV Park is very nice. Lots of lawn, about 15 miles from Burney (south) Showers, etc.

McArthur Burney Falls State Park is also very nice with showers, etc. Not sure about RV hookups?
The State Park is mostly shady with large pines. Burney Creek runs through it. Located about 15 miles from Burney.(North) Turn left off of 299E onto hiway 89. Go about 8 miles.

I do not know the fire restrictions at any of the campgrounds.

Weather here is in the 30's and below some nights. Afternoon hi's have mostly been in 50's to mid 60's. Fall is here and trees turning colors.
