After this trip to Oregon, I'm not sure Carpy will leave any flies in my box to pick over......

I plan on being there. Probably head up a few days early. Sounds like a good time!

So far I see 9 of us showing up....that would be a mini-bash as compared to past years but that's OK too. I just hope some of the lurkers decide to come along and enjoy the fun. I think they will find out we don't have tails, horns, and haven't bitten anyone in years.

Sheep creek nymphs are pretty standard at Davis and Frenchmans. Wiggle tails in cinnamon and olive. Snail patterns. Blood midges and pt's for indicator fishing, also standard faire.

Its almost like I was destined not to go.

My wife and I take two one week vacations a year. (She works; I am semi-retired.) The June vacation has always has conflicted with Hat Creek. I was looking forward to this year at Davis. Guess what.....same date as our Oct vacation. I made the Bash at Stampede and a couple of minis. But I sure would love to join you folks at Davis. Its practically in my back yard. But sadly its not going to work. I know that is my loss.

I hope you have a great time and Betty's fly recommendations are spot on. Not sure how many blood midges will still be around, but there should be a few. I would go heavy on the wiggle tails.

I will miss the campfire.

***** BASH CAMPING INFORMATION ***** 12 Years, 1 Month ago
Charlie and I thought maybe this info would be useful. Posted it as a separate thread, but since folks are asking questions, looks like some have not seen it:

Looks like the Bash/Goof is on for Oct 6-7 at Lightning Tree campground at Davis Lake.

Lightning Tree campground is on the east side of Davis. It is the last one up the road, about 3 miles beyond the other two campgrounds. We picked this campground since it is the easiest for folks with trailers or RV's to move about .

While it only has vault toilets, they have always been really clean. A couple of years ago, a very good water system was installed throughout the campground. Each campsite has a table and fire ring.

At this time of year, getting a campsite should not be a problem. Single sites are $21 dollars and often can hold two vehicles. Double sites (and half of the camping sites at Lightning Tree are double sites) are $42 and can often hold up to 4 vehicles. There's no charge for extra vehicles. Seniors with Golden Age Passes pay only half price-----So, find a senior and double up!!!

SUGGESTION: there are two loops in the campground. If we all try to gather up in the loop that has campsite numbers 31, 32, 33, etc, then we could all camp near each other. This may or may not work.

If possible, we will try to put some sort of sign up on the entrance bulletin board that says where everyone is located and whether they have room in their campsite and are willing to share. As you arrive and take a site, or become the second or third vehicle in a larger site, please put this on the chart.

Saturday night we will have a potluck/BBQ. Bring something to throw on the BBQ for yourself and some small dish to share. Location/Campsite to be determined. We'll try to choose the most isolated site so we won't annoy, disturb, bother, pester, or otherwise harrass the other campers.

Bring a few logs for the fire, maybe some charcoal, in case we need that, and a folding chair. BYO libations and plates and utensils. At the end of the night, take away anything you brought, if it's left over.

See you there!

Betty
