I fished 3.5 hours yesterday but there was "no joy". I thought I had one hit but it could have been a smolt or the bottom, went right back to the same spot and nothing.

did you try a purple egg sucking leach? we found most of the fish in fast water with
the leach.

I did not use a purple ESL. I used a couple of variations of the Assassin, a Dean River Lantern and Fly Du Jour. I have had luck with the Fly Du Jour in the past and the Dean River Lantern just looks like it should work.

my quess is the fish were off though I dont use or tie the grl or the fly du jour
I know they are proven patterns I just have never purchased any edge brite to tie
them and I have tossed assasins...I never had any luck with that pattern ?
might work if I left it on longer but not my confidence fly by any means.

I tied the DRL using Larva Lace instead of Edge Bright, it worked fine and I ended up with a nice segmentation. It looked good to me but the proof is in the fishing.
