Hey Buzz - yeah, I've made Threaded View the default. I think you had Flat View showing up because you were viewing the board before I installed the updated software (and it remembered the old settings).

Yeah, let's hit the T. Anytime in October is good. There should be more exploring this year as they have changed some of the habitat with restoration work.

Re:Default View 17 Years, 4 Months ago
FYI, I logged off the board, closed all of my browsers, and logged back in and I still had the FLAT setting. I had to go into my profile and change the default to THREADED. Perhaps there was a cookie overriding the setting?

I'll check my calendar when i get home and propose a couple of dates for the T. Fri-Sun work for you, or is mid-week better?

Yep - that's the way to change it (via your profile). I'd like to cleanup the verbiage for that in the profile here at some point.

I'm looking into the Flat View issue and the posts that you mentioned as missing or out of order.

Sounds good on the T!

I had to change mine back to threaded via the profile route. It came up flat at first.

Threaded vs. Flat 17 Years, 4 Months ago
Yes, and it seems that the profile settings must be stored in cookies, as after I set up the Threaded view on my work computer, I came home and still had the Flat view on my home system. Might be good information to add to the the FAQ.

P.S.: DANG! I've got steelhead on the brain! Can't wait to hit the T. Plus, we are looking at possibly moving out of state, quite possibly up around Orofino ID. The Clearwater river has excellent runs of Steel and Chinook...

FAQ 17 Years, 4 Months ago
Good idea on entering that information in the FAQ. Things that we need to add so far include:

  • Explanation of "Connections" in the profiles

  • Setting of Threaded or Flat view in profiles

  • An "Authors" area in the FAQ that explains suggested fonts and other standard formatting so newly created articles looks consistent with the others

  • Information on how the Steering Committee works

  • Let me know if you can think of anything else and we'll get that added before we go live!

    Re:FAQ 17 Years, 4 Months ago
Something else I noticed this morning, and I'm not sure if it falls in the FAQ type info, or if it's a bug:

I tried opening two sessions of the board, logging in, and the two browsers seemed to have trouble sorting out whether I was Buzz or Guest. I would end up having to log in again on either browser on a seemingly random basis.

Also a post that I made while "logged in" twice did not show up.

It is not possible to make an "empty" post.

On the old board, if you make a post with only a title, but no message, the message will post with just the title plus the "no/msg" indicator.

On the new board, the message does not post at all. You are simply returned to the top of the message board.

I'll get that fixed! Yeah, that has been bugging me also. It will be working before the site goes live.
