A New Fishin Rig 17 Years, 3 Months ago
Well.. In light of my divorce, I'm in need of a new fishin rig. something that holds all of the fishin and photographin stuff.. and the pooch.. something that's comfortable.. and something that gets more than 12.5mpg!

I've looked at the Honda CR-V, and Toyota Tacoma P/U. Also the Subaru Outback, but that was too small for me.

Soo.. comments, ideas and suggestions appreciated!

Thanks!

Billy

My 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 17 Years, 3 Months ago
averaged 19.4 gpm on my last trip to see my new grand daughter in San Jose.

With the crew cab and a shell it holds a heck of a lot of stuff and Jake loves the big back seat space for napping.

I was just surfin the classic posts and saw the one where you got rid of the Explorer in favor of the truck.

I have a Pilot, and I'm a satisfied customer.

Good Evening,

My wife has a 2005 CR-V with 30,000 miles on it. Great travel vehicle, 2 people lots of gear. We average 26 mpg, fully loaded, 80mph, air conditioner on. Honda and Toyota just can't be beat and my Tundra is manufactured here in the states not sure about the Honda.

Toyota Highlander gets the job done with plenty of room (seats 7), plenty of comfort, power(v6), 4wd, low maintaince (Toyota reliability) and gets 20mpg. Add the hybrid version and you will get 28mpg with all the same amenities.

Ford Escape Hybrid...there are several here on the board. 4x4, 30 mpg and more torque than a gas engine....plus you don't have to smell diesel fumes! Cheaper than a Hylander and almost as much room. Transmission is from Toyota and the engine has been flawless for 35,000 miles, time will tell if it continues to have a stellar record.

Of course, it's not a truck....

It might cost a little extra, but 17 Years, 3 Months ago
You have to make sure it's rigged up for towing trailers and dragging trout. At least the trout don't need a seven pin plug.

My 2005, regular cab, 4 cylinder, 4x4, Taco still gets 20-23 mpg, and is comfortable for a big guy to drive. Carries a lot of gear under the shell, and goes where I point it. Still flawless performance after 40,000 miles, many on bad roads. There's a reason Toyota trucks consistently win awards, and lead in sales. Mine was built in Fremont, CA, and is very red.

Toyota Tocoma is a great truck, and I recommend it without reservation.

I have a 2004 Ford F250 Lariat Crew Cab Diesel w/64000 miles on it. It gets 15 in town and 21 on the highway. I love it and am getting ready to sell it and by a 2008. It has the works, leather, towing, AM FM CD changer, etc. It is in excellent condition and has never missed a service. Let me know if you're interested. I just put it on the market and am building another one as we speak.
