we are going to have to find another place to eat for a while. A fire started in the kitchen area and as of 6pm, most of the building is gone.

I think it is toast. At about 4pm the fire crews pretty much had the fire contained to the kitchen, but at 6pm, you could see flames in the sportsbar. He had a Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig signed baseball too. :sad

Dang! I had forgotten about the baseballs. There was a lot in the sports bar that was fun to look at, but that bear was so impressive. Last time I was there was about a year ago. I rooting for the Chargers against the 49er's. I have never even eaten in the restuarant, always ate in the sports bar.

That is sad.

Granzella's has always been a stop for us on our way to the coast on for our abalone dive trips. That place was filled with inventory as well as the artifacts mentioned...I hope the insurance is adequate and covers all of the fine arts. What a shame.

they had great eggs benedict. The good thing about a small community is everyone will help to get them reopened quickly. I used to go there nearly every Sunday during duck season to feed my piehole with pasta,salad and beers.

I hope they were able to rescue some of the items inside...that polar bear was amazing...not to mention some of the other stuff...stopped there quite a few times on the way home from fishing.

I wanted to save the BEER! 17 Years, 3 Months ago  
I know everyone got out safe, I talked to Denise McCarty, one of the owners daughters, she said they didn't have time to save anything, everyone was ok, she called her dad who was going back east to go hunt deer this weekend (way to ruin a good hunting vacation). They are going to rebuild it fast and better.
