Heenan is definitely worth the time. As it's only open Sept./Oct., Fri-Sun, now would be the time.
It's a big enough water that there's room for all.
Now, catching 'em is an other thing altogether. I've NEVER taken one on a dry. You've got to be off of the water and out of there at sundown, and that's when the rises happen. It's all nymphing, dredging streamers, and/or midging. The water is FULL of blood midges and I can see huge schools on my Fishin' Buddy. Seems like magic to get a take.
However, when you get one on, it will be a wonderful struggle. And the Lahontan Cutthroat is a BEAUTIFUL fish.
The setting is beautiful, with the quality of fishing inverse to the quality of the weather.
