Seattle area info needed 17 Years, 3 Months ago
I will be heading to Seattle on November 8th and have the chance to fish Friday the 9th. Can anyone recommend water close to Seattle or a guide? I don't want to pack all my gear-only a couple rods and such.

Thanks

I am definitly no expert on this area. Call Kaufman's (sp?) in seattle and I bet they can set you up. I was up there in late August and I stopped by their shop. At that time the "pinks" were running right off the shore out on some island.

When I asked about techiques, they said a short cast with a floating line would get you a hook up.

Try doing some searches here.

http://www...ard/forumdisplay.php?f=6

Lots of talk right now about salmon in the rivers. 8 wt is a must. Look for references to the Cedar/Skagit/Green. Might want to take a look at a map showing local rivers then search on those. The Skagit is about 1 hour north of Seattle. If you would rather lake fish I hear Pass Lake is doing well right now. That should take 5 wt but requires a water craft of some sort.

Two warnings. Car break-ins are extremely bad up there, poachers are abundant and read the regs very carefully as they can be pretty confusing. Remember that in Washington you cannot lift a fish out of the water unless you plan on keeping it.

Oh and have a great time. It is a beautiful area.

Yup,

Kaufman's Streamborn - right downtown - on 4th, I think. About five blocks up and over the hill from Pike market, about three blocks from Kells Irish Pub....

Northwest Flyfishing did an article on Seattle about a year to 18 mos ago - lots of fishing very very close.
