What is a user Connection?

A user can request a "connection" to another person while viewing their profile. This is basically a way to "bookmark" the person in your connection folder. You can then keep notes on that person, quickly find them to send a Private Message, etc.

Another interesting benefit is that when you are viewing someones profile - you can see your "connectedness" with them. For example, if John is connected to Bob and Bob is connected to George, then John has one degree of connectedness with George. You can picture it like this: John->Bob->George - so John "knows" George through Bob. You can imagine that with a large group the connections can get pretty complicated. When viewing the profiles you can see how people are connected together.
