Hi all,
I have started on the field work for my thesis. I am doing a study of the
parasites of hardhead and Sacramento pikeminnow in the Feather River.
I could really use some help collecting fish. Fish are collected by angling, minnow traps,
and dip nets (but mostly by angling). I am looking for anyone who would be willing
to help by going fishing with me for these minnow species. I need about 3-5
people per weekend, but the more the merrier! I will be going out the weekends of
September 21-23, October 5-7, October 19-21, and November 2-4 (if needed). Anyone is welcome to
join me for any amount of time--no need to volunteer for the whole weekend
if you don't have the time. I plan on camping in the North Fork Feather
River canyon on these two weekends. There is no campground host where
I plan to camp, so no worries about late-night mini-bashing
If you would like to join me on either of these weekends, please post here
or drop me an email. I will set up a meeting place and times by email.
This is a fantastic opportunity for learning more about California's endemic species.
Hardhead and pikeminnow are fun and challenging to catch--it seems even more
challenging when one has to catch them (it seems like it is much easier to catch 'em
when one is pursuing trout!)
Thanks! Any help at all will be most appreciated!
Dawn
