Sand, Steel, and Oysters 16 Years, 9 Months ago
Howdy.

I can't seem to PM anyone off the board from my lap top anymore, so I'm doing a lil organizing right here, in broad daylight.

We've got the following attendees and rsvps for potluck, for this weekend:

Dawn - veggies
Claudia - scallops, pound cake, chocolate
GM
Ed K - salad, sourdough, and snausages
Andrew Weiner
Arizona Bruce - oysters
Kelly - tater bar
Moi - oysters and chili

If you're game for the Red Wine Swap, bring 2 bottles of your favorite vino (2 of the exact same stuff). Try to go for something a lil unique, obscure, or tiny production. We'll open one of them to taste around the table, and the second one we'll draw numbers for...high number getting first pick on what they want to take home.

I plan on being at the ranch before dark. Here are the directions:

The most popular route is to take Highway 101 to Cloverdale (Northbound) or Ukiah (Southbound). Then take Highway 128 at Cloverdale or Highway 253 at Ukiah. From both directions follow the signs to Boonville. Continue through Boonville on Hwy 128 to Hwy 1. When you see the pacific ocean (at mile marker 0) turn left over the Navarro bridge for 20 miles. Turn right on Kinney Road for 1/4 mile, we are the first driveway on the right. This route will take you through the Redwoods State Park and along the Navarro River. This is a beautiful drive with places to pull off and enjoy the redwood trees.

If you are traveling north on Hwy. 101 and want to take the slow but beautiful coast route take Hwy 12 West in Santa Rosa, through Sebastopol to Bodega Bay then North on Hwy 1.

From Charlie's post on another thread, the suggested equipment:

8 or 9 wt. Shooting heads in #1 or #2 sink. Any of the normal "steelhead" patterns, especially in Fl Oranges, Blacks, Reds, #4 to #10's should cover it. 2 or 3X tippets on a 7.5 to 9" leader.

I will bring veggies to grill--both a side dish and something to throw on the grill. I will try to figure out a dessert to bring as well.

Don't forget while admiring the redwoods along the Navarro to throw a line in the water. Some great steelhead spots along 128 as well. I also recommend the brewery in Booneville or wine tasting in Anderson Valley. Dang! I can't wait for the weekend! Mendocino County rules!

See you all there!

Hello.

Is it too late to hook up with you all?

I'm in Rohnert Park and I've got a travel trailer.

Wonderingly,

Ed K - soup or some sides, Guiness: It's Guinness!! sheesh!!!!!
Andrew Weiner
Arizona Bruce - oysters
Kelly
Moi - oysters and chili

Another side dish or two, along with a couple more things to throw on the grill, would be good.

The soup was just a desperate idea. If Chick is bringing chili, soup may be souperfluous.... Maybe I'll bring green salad, sourdough, and some sausages.... ?????

Our family has been passing the crud around. Little man and I over it. Big man has been feverish. Just wanted to send the flag up and show that we are still participating. We will bring some wine in addition to the exchange and a cork screw!
