New "Connection" feature question... 17 Years, 2 Months ago
When I have a conversation with someone, using the direct connection feature, is this private, can just anyone access it, can the moderators read it?

I'm enjoying this feature, but want to know if I have to keep mum on certain things.

I think you mean Private Messaging (PM). 17 Years, 2 Months ago
No one can read PMs between you and another board member (other than the moderator, who won't).
It is like a mini e-mail system between you and whomever you choose.

The "Connections" feature is more of an interesting way to determine who knows whom.

If you go to another user's profile, you will see one of several messages right above the title: "XXX's Profile Page". It could say, "You are directly connected with XXX", or "There is no established connection between you and XXX", or it may say, "Your connection path to XXX ( 2 degrees ): Arizona Bruce -> G.M. -> XXX"

Hope that helps,

Buzz

Hey Buzz - PMs are totally private between the two people. No one can read them.

So not even the administrator has access.
That's good to know, Greg, because we're plotting a hostile takeover.

What do we call a Private Message (PM) sent on Saturday? 17 Years, 2 Months ago
Okay, I get it. Man, all this new nomenclature; it's driving me nuts! It's like a new language.

Do I need to be "connected" to someone to send a PM? Maybe I unneccesarily did this the hard way, but I contacted some folks via their profiles to ask them to be connected to me so I could send them a PM.

Did I even need to do this?

Buzz, I've got the duct tape. I suggest we ply GM with a couple of bottles of Zinfandel before we tackle him. Although he might appear mild-mannered, I suspect he can get quite feisty.

You don't have to have a connection with someone to send a PM. For example - when you are viewing a post - you can click the little "PM" under the persons name and it will bring up the PM message window...simply type a message and that's it. Connections are just a way of bookmarking people.

I'm not sure about Zinfandel. That might work in AZ, but Moose Drool or Smithwick's might be more appropriate in this context. It would take a lot. Let's plan on a case each. By the time we "ply" him, we'll be plowed ourselves and we might just end up fishing instead...

Those options sound appealing! I never had a Zin until I met Greg. It was pretty darned good, although I prefer Pinot Noire...but I'll drink anything with you that you enjoy.

Ohhhhhhhhhh. Well, that's pretty easy, huh? Gracias.

See, Bobicators aren't particularly swift folks. But then, neither are most steelheaders, huh?

Jeez, if you really want some I'll be going through the Dallas airport on Monday and Tuesday. If I'm going to carry something back from Texas for you, though, wouldn't you rather have something like a cheerleader? I was through there last week, too. Too much traveling. Is there an emoticon for travel induced insanity?

Those might work...
