Back to Manzanita 13 Years, 7 Months ago
After only catching 3 fish all weekend at the GOOF, I set off to re-affirm my compentency at Manzanita on Fathers' Day weekend.

Set up camp at Manzanita early Friday afternoon... fished the lake until 6 PM and managed to get 3 Browns (1 on a Callibaetis Cripple and 2 on the Callibaetis nymph suspended below the cripple)...largest was 14 inches...missed a few too...it's frustrating to be able to see the flash under the dryfly as the fish takes the nymph and not be able to set the hook...3 or 4 times in a row.

Back Saturday AM and landed this one almost immediately on a Callibaetis Spinner...

(the bow on the net is 20 inches from end to end)

By the time lunch happened, 3 more Browns came to the boat and I lost a few after the hook-up. After lunch, I landed 2 more Browns...missed a couple on the spinner and had one tie me up in the weeds after taking the nymph (nothing worked, I fed slack, I tried moving the boat, but the fish remained hung in the weeds)...Lesson: Don't spend too much time getting a fish on the reel, strip line in to get the fish above the weeds before putting it on the reel!

Fun couple of days with guys from the Mt Tam Club and the Northbay TU Chapter...no real LMS competition though.

Rainbows must still be in the spawning stream...no one was talking about catching anything except browns...and the Callibaetis hatch was non-existent...just sporatic bugs (that the fish were on!)

Paul,

Thanks for the report. I plan on heading up there later this week if I can get all my chores accomplished.

Nice fish, and on top too!

Too bad you felt like laying it on a dry floor. Even dopers know better than that....

Not a problem...the fish wasn't on a dry floor but in a WET net however some sanctimounious sons who don't know who their father is and have to warn strangers not to approach the house because his mother tends to run out from under the porch and bit folks aren't intelligent enough to see and understand.

Typical.

Isn't there another board you can help kill?

You have repeatedly exposed yourself as an A #1.

Is "the Bride" fair game now since you have attacked st's parents?

Can you post without using the word "I" in every sentence?

BTW, did you flunk third grade spelling? How did you manage to write tickets for all those whom you pulled over for taking a leak on the side of the highway?

Go away, please?

I don't believe I made a direct reference to anyone in my reply to Fishhawk...you do seem to suffer from rectal-cranial inversion and I suggest that you grab your ears and pull.

Caught with your pants down again.

Keep opening your mouth...the board can use the amusement.

One sentence, THREE "I"s. LOL!
