What's fishing good? (in spite of the rain) 13 Years, 3 Months ago
|
|
Or what's fishing well?
I've got a couple days to get out...namely Wed and Thursday...and I am trying to decide between McCloud for a presumed October Caddis hatch (maybe???)...Feather River, just cuz. Or Perhaps the Truckee.
But with all this rain I'm not sure what's been too impacted.
Any reports from any of these areas?
Cheers,
SST

Kelly, I dont have any info for the McCloud,Feather or the Truckee but I see the rain as a big plus for my area.
I would be headed out right now if this darn work would get out of my way !

Hey Salman,
Hmmmm. I hadn't considered the big T.
Well, this complexifies things now by 25%. Hmmm.
I'll probably be on the road outta Petaluma by 11:15 AM if all goes as planned...I may not decide until Redding.
Thanks for the input!
Cheers,
SST

Well, thanks for the info gang....I saw Carpy's report before I got to Road 68...so I peeled off and went to the Lower Feather. There's a lot of Salmon. On my 4th cast I hooked into a Salmon...it was pretty healthy and probably 10-15 lbs...after about 20 min and walking 100 yds downstream I brought it almost to hand. I decided to iPhone film it, it broke off in the filming process. Seriously my wrist was so tired I was about done for the afternoon after that!
Pretty fun!
I may head up to the NFFR tomorrow. I recall it can be good this time of year. I think.
Later,
SST

?? Did you forget to eat your Wheaties before leaving the house ??
Sure beats what I did today and probably for the next 3 weeks and the boat sits in front of the house waiting to be rowed down the river..Best of luck on the NFFR !

Hey Charlie. How are you?
I ran into SST on the McCloud at Ah Di Nah campground last week. Fishing was awesome. I love fishing the dry fly with a dropper. Just when you're focusing on the dry fly it suddenly goes under and you completely forget it's your strike indicator for the dropper. What a hoot.
I'd love to get together with some of the "old" fly fishing gang sometime. Maybe do a day trip some place like the Yuba or Truckee before the season ends.
