This Fall 13 Years, 2 Months ago
|
|
Inspired by Charlies thread a while back about things he had learned I though I would add a few things I have learned while fishing on the Trinity this Fall. Before I go into my observations I have to add a WARNING so that I do not run afoul of some governmant agency or the politically correct police, none of the following is supported by any data other than me, so use this data at your own risk although I think it is highly accurate.
The first thing I learned and this was a very recent observation it is colder in Douglas City than it is in Red Bluff, and how do you ask do I know this tidbit of information, because I needed a jacket in Douglas City and I didn't need one in Red Bluff and hour and a half earlier. This observation, although I know this will be hard to believe, also applies in Junction City.
I have also learned that Trinity River water is wet, not an abmormal wet, just the normal run of the mill wet, but still wet. I would also like to point out that I personnally have not observered any abnormal levels of hydrous dioxide this year like was reported several years ago on this very board, so that may have a La Nina or El Nino, or one of those other cute weather terms, anomoly. I have also observed the wet water flows, sometimes left to right and at other times right to left, I am not sure why this phenomenom occurs but I am sure there are sound scientific reasons.
I realize by now your brains are spinning from information overload with all of this fabulous information, so I will add just one more thought. I honestly, genuinely, with all heart believe there are fish in the Trinity River. You have to understand I have not caught one this Fall but being true to the fisherman's ethic I believe there are fish. I should add that a guy told me his barber said that his cousin told him that a friend heard from a guy in New York that he read on a blog posted by a guy in Europe that he caught a steelhead from the Trinity River. Probably an Urban Legend.
Next installment,observations on casting

So, when you wade all the way across the river, and then start fishing, do you find that the flow has changed from Left to Right or Right to left?
WE need a Congressionally funded Study to examine this phenomena, especially during winter.
and be alert for any H 6O - that is a sign of impending Hyper-hydrogenation!

Ed,
So this phenomenon has also happened to you? I have also found when you wade half way across the river and turn around it will occur. I thought maybe I had been abducted by aliens and the implanted electrodes were effecting my vision, sure glad to get rid of that worry .

But then again, the mad Sgt may be after him for illegal taking of fish when they turn belly up downstream from him.

Charlie,
"Spiritual enlightenment" is that one of those fancy little headlamps that will produce enough light to double as a airplane beacon? I read about one the other day that if you push the right button the lights will produce "SOS". I am not sure what "SOS" means other than "send over sam", whoever sam is, but he must be a popular guy if they produced a light to call him.
Ed,
"Oh, laddie" you missed my critical observation that it is cold in that part of the world so additional exposure would not be appropriate. As it is I wear 32 layers of clothing an require a squire, similar to a medival knight, to dress for steelhead fishing.
