Hi Everyone,

Thank you ever so much for the kind words. This group was one of Doug's absolutely favorite. Each year our primary trip would be the bash. Now, luckily I think he ended up with the "sheep"(sorry forgot her name) once during that time. My oldest remembers some of the bashes, riding bikes and hanging out, going to bed very late.

Doug always wanted to go fly fishing at Lake Almanor. And the time couldn't be better as the kids and I have a place to stay the week of August 20th(next week basically). I'm very rusty at fly fishing since it has been many years. Does anyone know who might be able to be a guide for us at Lake Almanor?

Right now the fish will be holding by the springs under the surface and over by the Hamilton Branch.

I do not know if Milt Jenson is still guiding, but he is one of the best.

Also, the Chips fire is making thing very smokey at Lake Almanor. The fire is at the east side of Butt Vally Res. as of yesterday. The local paper advise residences on the west shore to be "worried" and to remove any valuable documents, family heirlooms, etc as a precaution.

Thank you Paul for the update. I wasn't aware of the fire. We will be on the East side thankfully.

I think I would make different plans. It's going to be difficult, if not impossible just to get to the lake and once there it is going to be very uncomfortable. They have recommended evacuation of almost all of the West side.

It does sound messy. We also have been invited to Eagle lake which .... could maybe do first hoping that the fire will be more contained in a week. The boys and I really need to high tail it out of here for awhile.

I spoke with friend who was just up there. The smoke is not that bad as it is all blowing west towards the valley. Who knows what will be happening next week
