Oroville area fires: FYI 16 Years, 4 Months ago
I read yesterday that Camp Okizu (sp?) was evacuated due to the fires in the area.

I hope the facilities are not damaged.

The fire in Berry Creek is a bit south of the camp. Current report is no structures burned in that fire and they have made fire breaks on 3 sides. 0% containement

The Camp Fire is another story. The smoke at my house is unbelevable. Visability is less then a mile. Ash is falling from the sky.

I thought about going fishing, but 32 is closed, 70 is closed. Skyway is closed above Paradise. The air is unhealthy. Hopefully the fire will not jump the west branch of the Feather. If is does, it will be devastating.

We've had our share of fires up this way, but it's still hard to imagine the terrible devastation taking place in Northern California. I feel so sorry for the destruction these folks are experiencing. It's one thing to sit over here and complain about the smoky skies day after day, but it's life and death and more for those living through this hell. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Yep I wondered about the camp. Local news said it was evacuated several days ago. Have had a ton of smoke here in Southern Humboldt. There are fires northeast of here that not a lot is known about. Talked to a guy at work today who just came back from a houseboat float on Trinity Lake. Fires there have burned down to the high water line. Having grown up east of L.A. this weather is somewhat nostalgic...hot and smoggy. Carpy...smoke is one thing ash is another, be careful.

Thoughts and prayers going out to all who have been displaced, and to all those on the firelines.
