Some CPR for the board... 13 Years, 9 Months ago
Yes, there is life!

Had itchy feet so I went up to the USac on Tues a.m. The river was as high as advertised, but visibility was as good as it gets. Will stay this way for awhile because there is still lots of snow up high.

Fished Cantara for about two hours(around 1:00pm) with no luck using heavier/bigger nymphs as there was nothing on top happening and the flows were up. In hindsight, I might have been better off using smaller stuff given that the visibility was so good. Lots of tiny no-see-ums in the air but no caddis, stones or mays. Did see one stone shuck at The Loop, and one adult on the sidewalk at Micki's.

Had to cut short my afternoon session at The Loop because my fishing partner cut his pad pretty severely on something and he needed immediate help, blood everywhere... Took him to The Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital for care, and boy what a good job they did on him. Great people that did a great job. Thank you MSAH!! So...a big SHOUTOUT for MSAH!!

Left him there for awhile so they could deal with him and headed back to The Loop area(just upstream at the parking/picnic area). Was one other fishing there. Still had no luck as the high water made it difficult to get a decent drift thru that area of the creek. Finished up fishing about 4 because I had to go back and pick up my dog.

After picking up my partner I decided that the USac flows weren't going to go down in the next few hours, or days... So I headed to Hat.

Made HC by 6:00, gave my partner his pills(makes him drowsy/mellow, told me not too take the pills - especially after two martinis. Hmmm...?) so I could leave him in the back of the truck, geared up and headed to the riffle. Nymphed for awhile and hooked a couple of little ones. Later, changed to a dry and had quite a bit of luck. In fact, I caught quite a few BIG ones - yes, the big, red-sided, 14-18 inch ones that I thought were long gone from Hat! What a nice surprise. Good for Hat Creek!

Pizza, sleep and then breakfast.

Back to the riffle about 7:00am. Had the place to myself(two people the night before) until about 11am when a couple others showed up. LDR'd a couple of good ones while nymphing, none landed tho. Some pmds, tiny caddis and one stone floating by unmolested(for as long as I could see him drift).

If I was you I wouldn't go fishing up there until August.

Anyway...my feet don't itch anymore and the shack is not quite so nasty.
