spey rod for chinook/striper? 13 Years, 8 Months ago  
13ft. eight weight (7/8 wt. Rio AFS=460 grains, 12 wt. Rio shooting head = 400 grains). Too much leverage?

Might give the fish too much leverage. but, those rods were originally for Atlantic Salmon, and get used for big steelies. I doubt you'll have a problem.
