The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

I will be fishing manzanita for a few days early next week. I'd like to get some stream fishing in too on this trip. Any experience on the NF of battle creek either upstream or down from MCcumber?

I see you didn't get any response to your query, whch is either a sign that no-one's fished it, or that someone has, and it was far too good to publicize. I'd say either is good.

I've also been interested in that stream for several years, but could never seem to spare the time from trying to figure out Manzanita's callibaetis hatch. I did peer over the bridge on Hwy 44 once, and see a nice brown in the pool below the bridge (13-14 inches). Did you fish it?

Thanks for the reply. No I didn't fish Battle Creek. I ended up fishing Burney Creek and a few other small streams in that area. Maybe next year. I've ended up fishing less the last couple of years than I have in my adult life. Oh well.

You've got to sort that out Mike. If your employer has one of the has one of those employee asistance programs, point out to them that fly fishing is way cheaper than therapy!

I'll let you know if I ever fish it.
