Backyard report 13 Years, 3 Months ago
its cold and gettin' colder..feels like snow is on tap wish I could post a good fishing report but work just keeps pulling me away from the river and my last trek was a bust for me and only one fish to the boat for my brother...not much to get excided about yet we're still seeing some over crowding with all the guide boats
I would say "bring your own rock" but with the flow @300cfs I think there's plenty
to go around Time to go earn the almighty dollar !

Man, I have not been to your backyard for a couple years. I think I need to get back up there.

Damn! If the T is crowded after 2010's ho-hum year, that means that the river has been advertised to the point that it will always be crowded for SH season. It's getting tougher, as I get older, to get my lazy butt out there and hour before dawn. Damn!

I fished the Trinity yesterday, no hits and no screaming runs. The water is very low and clear and there does not seem to be many fish. It also seemed yesterday the crowd has thinned out a little, yes, there were people but not as many. I was even able to get a favorite run at 8:30. I am hoping this rain will help.

One of these days...I'll be able to fish on a week day when there are less people !
Windy and cool yesterday, I would imagine there was a lot of leaf debris in the drift
,that always gets the fish a bit spooky. Hopefully we get more rain out of the next storm thats on the way.

I hear that the rock you want to stand on is just below the bridge in Junction city. That right there is AB's bucket.

Re:Backyard report 13 Years, 2 Months ago
Ya know Bruce thirty years ago I could fish all weekend on miles and miles of river
and never see another fisherman so that is proof to me that the advertisement whether
its internet or other media is a likely cause of the over use of the fishery here...
I'm sure there are other factors, this Steelhead fishing has just gotten popular
since I started chasing them...
When I was a kid, my dad would wake me up and say " get your lazy but up or I'm leaving
you here "..I have to say the same to you

actually I think its just above the bridge but that rock is over rated, there are much
better rocks to stand on

I agree Mark,

Rock #1369 that's just downstream of the Northfork hole is still my favorite.

You're right, Mark. It WAS a great spot a few years back, but the structure has changed. Now, it's just one spot that I fish and don't hookup in. I'll be up in 10 days or so. Hope to see you then.

Some folks from Monterey Peninsula Fly Flingers fished there with Fly Shop Guides last week. Fish were caught, all the pix I saw were hatchery fish, but a couple of nice ones. Evasive about where, but I think Low. I was in Washington State with the Hounds.
