Unless we get some rain soon, the future steelhead runs will be greatly diminished. At the moment all the rivers along the Sonoma and Mendocino Coast are closed to fishing (except the Russian..whoopee} due to low water. I was over at the coast and noted three rivers where the steelhead are stacked up big time and the seals and the sea lions are having a feast. If id does rain the fish that remain will shoot up the rivers to spawn (hopefully) and from past experience they will not linger in the transition zone to acclimate. so folks, put positive karma to work to get some rain for these poor fish.

I read that it is the driest December in Oregon since 1875. I have been waiting for rain for the past 7 weeks.

Charlie, I have been praying and doing rain dances for a couple months and when we
finally get a couple storms up here.. do I seize the opprotunity ? No I stuck it out
on the Trinity instead of heading for the Smith where the flows went up to almost
60k then dropped to purfect overnight and the fish ran up.....blew that one !
No rain expected here for the next week !
