or Big girls need lovin' too
Or serviceing the Baracuda
I was sittin'around today board and suffering from cabin fever...snowy day and the girls dont drive in the snow so I
am the designated driver...YAY. I guess I could have snuck off to the river for an hour but instead I caught up on the
maintenence to the vise...I know its been at least a year or
better since I've given it any love so I gathered up the stuff ie. rags, oil, grease and of coarse the alcohol...
ooops designated driver...put the brandy back get the isopropyl
The Dyna-king has been a great vise for me and is a real workhorse
and will outlast me with routine service here are the key areas.
Remove the vise from the base and lay it the bench with the tention screw facing up
remove the screw and place 4 drops of oil down the hole
now hold the vise up so the bearings are vertical
give the handle a few turns to work the oil into the bearing on one end then rotate 180' and repeat the turning
proccess
now put a spot of grease on the tention screw threads and
the nylon tip
reinstall the screw and the rotateing end is done and we can
move on to the jaws, remove the forceing cap and pull out
the jaws...if your jaws will still come out...clean all
the parts with the alcohol on a rag and a swab, relube
the jaw and cavity with grease and insert the jaw then
put some grease on the threads and dont forget the oring
and a spot of grease on the jaw where the forceing cap contacts the jaw
a spot on the cam lever
thats it reassemble the vise onto the base and give it a good wipe down , its ready for another thousand flies !
