The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

Before I put the link to the new site on the old board (to start our two week transition) are there any show stoppers that need to be taken care of?

The one issue that concerns me is the default "FLAT" view of the board that people currently see when they login. You can change this to "THREADED" in your profile - however I'm having a difficult time trying to get "THREADED" as the default. The board has traditionally been a "THREADED" view - I'm not sure people will like not having that as the default.

The other areas that I would like to "beef up" are the Bash Pictures and the FAQ entries. Phil already added an excellent writeup to the FAQ - so that area is starting to take shape. I just need to make some time to gather all of the bash pics.

Anyway - unless anyone raises any concerns, I'll be putting the link on the old board very soon so people can start checking things out.

Decidedly NOT a show stopper, but (I think) inconsistent.

I noticed that Bjorn's Conservation Corner is listed on the right under the "Home" heading, and "Fly Tying with Phil" is listed on Left under "Featured Articles". I kind of put these in the same category and think they should both be on the right as "regular" columns.

This one a little more significant.

I think Dawn mentioned the idea of having a place in the User Profile for an introduction, description, other information.

Is this something that can be added without a lot of effort? This is one of those "Campfire" elements that I have appreciated on the old board, and use QUITE frequently.

It would be cool just to have a space for this just below the profile pic.

The three black menus on the right hand side on the main page do not have titles. Do they need them?

I just logged on and there to greet me was a picture of Carpy on the Random Photo. Did we really want to subject the user community to that?

Good idea. Check the Main Menu on the front page - better?

hmmm...not sure which menus you are referring to. The menus I see have titles. There are a few items on the right side that don't have menu styles around them (like the rss feed at the bottom right) but that was done to make it look cleaner.

I see the titles as well.

Just updated the FAQ to add discussion on this feature per our conversations earlier. That is pretty easy to do!
