Vamp's Passing :( 12 Years, 10 Months ago

Last night at 7:15 pm, Vamp walked over the rainbow bridge. She would have been 14 years old on May 15th. She had a sore that wouldn't heal. Ultrasound last night revealed that she had liver and spleen cancer. her kidneys were also starting to fail. She was unable to hold her head up. So as unprepared and shocked as I was, I held her as she was euthanized. She was ready to be let over. This was the hardest thing that I ever had to do.
Luckily, my friend, Mary Ann was at the vet's office with me. Vamp was a great dog who lead a good life. She both gave lots of love and received it. She will be sorely missed by her pack. Ruby knows that something is up and missing her partner in crime.

I am sorry to hear that. Vamp was a sweetheart. I know how hard it is to lose a dog, and I am sorry for your loss.

Loretta,
Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Vamp in person I have seen so many references to her in your posts that I feel as if I know her. I am very sorry for your loss but now Vamp is able to run in endless fields that are full of wonderful things for a dog to chase.

Loretta, that's sad. Always so hard to lose a friend, especially an animal friend. They are so loyal and loving.

Your post brought back memories of sitting there and holding Sade when we had to put her to sleep so I feel your pain (tears are rolling down my cheeks as I type). It is the hardest thing we, as pet owners, have to do but we know it relieves the pain they are feeling. We still hurt but we know they aren't suffering any more.
Please accept mine and Pat's condolences.

Wow......I am so sorry to hear that. I remember meeting Vamp at Butte Lake. Sweet dog. And obviously very important to you. What is strange is that I took my four legged fishing buddy Sierra for a walk today along one of our local creeks. She is pushing 15 and I spent a lot of time thinking about how many great times we have had together....and also facing the reality that we probably don't have many more ahead of us. Its hard to see that coming. So hard to lose such a great friend. I feel for you. So sorry for your loss. Its amazing how a good dog grabs your heart in such a strong and special way. My condolences.
