S.Fork Eel update.... 12 Years ago
If you're thinking of drifting the river....BE CAREFUL... it's hairy right now. Even the local guides are doing dry runs to see where the real problems are. There are a number of riffles where the right channel is not apparent. A boat crashed on the rocks in the gorge just downstream from Richardson Grove this afternoon. The boat sank and the two guys in it were stranded on the rocks. The local technical rescue guys were on their way. Two of the riffles between Phillipsville and Miranda are get out and walk the boat down so bring your waders. Lots of brush and snags. We had a gang buster Salmon run this year and hope the rains came soon enough to get them home. First reports are a lot of Steelies moving right now. The river here at Miranda is fly able. Good Luck.
