Fly line Recommendation 10 Years, 8 Months ago
|
|
I can't really complain about cabin fever with the weather we have had this winter. But still I am getting antsy to get out and fish. So I do the next best thing. I bought a new fly rod on E-Bay. After passing up several mediocre offers a got a great deal on a G Loomis 9 ft 5 wt. to replace a Sage I lost in a kayaking accident last fall. Now I need a line to go with it. I have been using Cortland 444 for years, Make it decades. But with so many other options out there....what do you recommend for an all round wt forward trout line?
Looking forward to hearing your recommendations.
Michael

Michael,
If you are looking for a all purpose line then the Rio Gold is nice. If you do mostly indicator fishing the the Rio Indicator line is really nice, I have used this line with a dry fly, only once and it did work but probably not the optimal use.

personally, I like Cortland 444. I have DT and/or WT lines for 2 wt thru 10 wt rods. Several of DT lines are decades old.
whats that old saving..?
if it ain't broke, why mess with it
