Saw that someone here had negative Karma. How sad. If they finish out the board with that, I guess fishing hoppers may take on a whole new meaning...hate to end up low on the food chain.

Maybe not your posts were offending, but your avatar picture? Some would question how appropriate that pic is for a fishing board, especially one which has kids who chime in here once in a while. There is a time and place for that sort of thing, and this might not be it.

Thanks Dawn for pointing out the obvious! Karma works wonders in helping keep this a nice place to visit: positive and negative!

Then I guess if Fat Bastard shows up with Krispy Kremes, or when the flame wars start, gay bashing, etc. there will be negative Karma flying around here....nah, those people don't post under their true board ID. Better build up the Karma now, peeples!!! May need it later.

The Karma thing seems kinda cowardly. I respect you, Dawn, for "vocalizing" your response to the picture. How about if we ding (or raise) someone's Karma, post a response or send a PM to let them know why?

I agree that letting someone know why is a good idea, however, I don't think it could be enforced. That is the downside of an anonymous system--people can choose to reveal themselves or not. This is a good discussion to have. There are a lot of new things on the board, like Karma, and not all of them may end up working out the way we thought they would.

I say what I think on the board, but I try to keep it civil and I never say something to someone on the board that I wouldn't tell them if they were in front of me in person.

With that said, I will bump up your Karma. I hate to see someone going negative just for expressing their opinion (especially when doing it so nicely)

Not that it will make any difference but you have more Karma now...I believe that even after a contributor gets 100 karma points they will not automatically be a better caster, better fly tyer, better reader of the water, or better drinker, man or woman than they were when they had zero karma points...karma points or not, each contributor is who they are and I don't really want to judge a contributor by an artificial (feel-good, toughy-feely) rating system.

Now, if each karma point was worth 50 raffle tickets at the next BASH... ...
