What does the Karma: 1 stand for? 17 Years, 4 Months ago
I keep seeing Karma:1, Karma: 2 all the way up to Karma: 6 in the upper right hand cornner of the post

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

As the old saying goes, "What goes around, comes around".

When someone does something cool on the board, says something you really like, or whatever, you can bless them by giving them a Karma point. It is totally anonymous (unless you choose to tell them).

It is a way to identify users on the board who carry a lot of weight with other users.

You can also take away Karma points if someone does something you think particularly un-campfirish (I made that word up, can you tell?).

There is a caveat...you are only able to award (or take away) one Karma point every six hours.

Hope that helps,

Buzz

Kinda sounds like a popularity contest.

A true trout bum is one who has commitments and responsibilities but won't give in. He doesn't run away to escape them, he just ignores them and goes fishing.......

Well, I can see bitterness and possibly hurt feelings in the future. People taking points away just because they don't like someone or they don't agree with something they said. I've seen GM's Karma go up and down and he hasn't posted anything that would warrant taking away points. I just gave Sangerdave a Karma point a little while ago because he had one yesterday and someone took it away. He's only made one post and all it said was TFO.(In the looking for a cheap rod thread)Someone gave him a point yesterday and then someone took it away today? Why I wonder? Because they're mad at Dave for something? Maybe they don't like TFO? Hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe folks will think about what they say if they know they might lose some Karma points. We'll see...

You noticed GM's Karma going up and down, too , eh? 17 Years, 4 Months ago
I think people are getting a little carried away with this new toy. Sooner or later the novelty will wear off, and "Karma" will become a little more useful.
